The Gaslight Inn provides ADA Amenities on the first floor of our 1870’s property. We have one guestroom that is ADA compliant, The Garden Room.
Parking
Off-street parking is available in the alley behind the Inn or in municipal parking lots. The Gaslight Inn offers six private, level parking spots. Two of the spaces are adjacent to an aisle for loading and unloading. There is additional parking available in municipal lots adjacent to or across the street from the inn, which have designated handicap (metered) parking spaces. A parking diagram or description is available upon request by calling the Inn at (717) 337-9100.
Entering the Inn
From the private parking spaces, there is a two-step entrance through the back of the property with a brick-paved walkway on a slight downward slope. Guests are also able to follow the alley to the nearest side street and proceed to the public sidewalk and follow to the front of the inn (approximately one city block). The sidewalk is also accessible from each of the closest municipal parking lots. Entrance from the front is through an iron fence and gate. Upon entering the front gate, follow the brick pathway past the yellow side porch, under a pergola and around to the brick patio in back. Turn right. The door closest to the stone wall provides a private entrance to our first-floor handicap accessible room, The Garden Room. The doorway is wide enough for a wheelchair, and the handle can be opened with one hand.
Interior Access
The Garden Room is located on the first floor and has level access to the dining room and first-floor parlors. Our dining room provides a water cooler and mini-fridge available for guest use. Breakfast is served at the large dining table that wheelchairs can easily roll up to. All food and beverages are brought to our guests at the table.
We do not provide public restrooms, but there is a handicap accessible bathroom located in The Garden Room.
Interior hallways and corridors are free of steps or abrupt vertical level changes. All interior hallways, stairways and other pedestrian routes are free of obstructions. We do not offer an elevator. Interior stairs have closed risers, same stair tread depth and include handrails.
